Paste one item per line (or a comma-separated list) and get it back in alphabetical order.
This alphabetizer puts any list into alphabetical order the moment you paste it. It handles names, titles, keywords, product lists, bibliography entries and anything else you can put one item per line. If your list is a single comma-separated line, the tool detects that too and splits it for you.
Sorting runs entirely in your browser, so long or private lists (customer names, internal SKUs, student rosters) never leave your device.
A plain text sort compares characters one at a time, which is why many tools put Item 10 before Item 2: the character "1" comes before "2". Natural sorting reads the digits as a number, so you get the order a human expects:
| Plain text sort | Natural sort |
|---|---|
| Chapter 1 | Chapter 1 |
| Chapter 10 | Chapter 2 |
| Chapter 11 | Chapter 9 |
| Chapter 2 | Chapter 10 |
| Chapter 9 | Chapter 11 |
Natural order is on by default. Turn it off if you specifically need strict character-by-character (ASCII-style) ordering.
Libraries, record shops and streaming catalogues usually file The Beatles under B and A Tale of Two Cities under T. Switch on Ignore "The / A / An" and the tool sorts on the word after the article while keeping the original title intact in the output.
By default sorting is case-insensitive, so apple, Apple and APPLE sit next to each other. Accented letters are sorted with their base letter using your browser's language rules, so Émile lands among the E's instead of after Z. Turn on Case sensitive when capitalisation is meaningful, for example when sorting code identifiers.
Need more control, such as sorting by length or shuffling? Use Sort Lines. To only strip repeats without changing the order, use Remove Duplicate Lines.
