What is an invisible character?

An invisible character is a Unicode character that takes up a position in text but shows nothing, or only blank space, on screen. Apps that refuse an empty name or message usually check for "no characters" or "only regular spaces". A character such as the Hangul Filler (U+3164) is a real letter-class character, so it passes that check while still looking blank.

Support changes as apps update their filters, so if one character is rejected, try the next. Hangul Filler and Braille Pattern Blank are the most reliable for names and messages.

Line breaks and spacing in bios — a Braille blank on its own line keeps an empty line that some apps would otherwise collapse.

Find and remove hidden characters

Invisible characters also cause real bugs: a zero-width space inside a password, a byte-order mark (U+FEFF) at the start of a CSV header, or a no-break space that makes two "identical" spreadsheet values fail to match. Frequently asked questions

How do I make a blank name in a game or app?

Click the Hangul Filler card to copy it, then paste it into the name field. If the field needs a minimum length, set a count (for example 3) and use Copy characters.

Why does the app say my name is invalid?

Some apps strip or block specific invisible characters. Try another one from the list — Hangul Filler and Braille Pattern Blank are the most widely accepted.

Why does my copied text contain strange [U+200B] markers?
